We have been searching for a system that we could trust as the motocross, that we have been using so far. We wanted something more. A system as fast as the monocross but with the absorption capacity of the parallelograms, with an excellent stability when pedalling but with an excellent sensitivity to small asperities. We have analyzed in detail all the existing systems. We have done tens of models and experiments. After two years of intensive and passionate study he have developed I-Link!
I-Link first Carver and Pusher Prototypes 2006
We have created a virtual fulcrum system with very short rods and very stiff positioned rather vertically. This make such that the I-Link is very stable at pedalling but in the same time it is prone to move when submitted to forces parallel to the ground directed to the rear wheel, therefore very responsive to the asperities of the ground. Additionally, thanks to the very short connecting rods it is very stiff, much stiffer then our already sturdy monocrosses.
I-Link manufacturing, functional and durability tests.
As usual, we have preferred CNC machining over lower cost technologies. For this reason every single component of the system is CNC machined from large aluminium billets (so much debris, pals.). During all along 2006, we have then submitted our pre production samples to many hours of durability tests and many sessions of functional tests in very diverse alpine locations.
After two years of development, the Carver frameset is now ready for the 2007 market. It is a Mountain Trail or All Mountain frame with 115 or 135mm of rear travel. It is our first serial production application of the I-Link technology, our virtual fulcrum solution!
